Back at UFC 217, Rose Namajunas did the unthinkable and dethroned Joanna Jedrzejczyk. She never made excuses and was classy in her defeat, congratulating the new champion and admitted she made mistakes in the fight. She vowed to come back stronger than ever and still cocky, but she did cryptically say that something happened during the lead up to the fight, which she never discussed. It looks like she just broke her silence about it in an interview with Przegladu Sportowego. During the interview, Jedrzejczyk reveals an experience she compared to torture.
“People I worked with led me to critical condition. Now I’m just happy that I’m alive. I was screaming. It didn’t matter it was very late. The pain of putting my body back again in hot water was unimaginable. But I wanted to do it for everybody who wanted to see my fight. It’s a miracle I made weight. I was cutting weight for 14 hours. It was torture. I trusted them. Unfortunately they failed and this mistake in unforgivable. I forgive them as a human because that’s who I am and probably our relationship will remain but I can’t cooperate with such people any more.” — Joanna Jedrzejczyk speaking to Przemyslaw Osiak as translated by Bartek Stachura.
So Joanna officially no longer cooperates with Perfecting Athletes. A few months after Ray Borg did the same and was criticized by her. She was always praising them, in every single interview. She will no longer live in their house. Will rent sth near ATT. https://t.co/6x7Iyvfzyo

Joanna Jedrzejczyk said that she had to cut as much as 16lbs to make weight. As a result of this harrowing experience, the former champ has left her team Perfecting Athletes. It’s worth mentioning, that they were the same team which Ray Borg was working with when he pulled out of his original fight with Demetrious Johnson, that had to be rescheduled to UFC 215. Jedrzejczyk’s tell-all here is less about an excuse for her loss to Namajunas, and more about the increasing dangers of weight cutting. No word on if the UFC will look to book an immediate rematch for the strawweight title, but after an experience like that the flyweight division has to look better and better for Jedrzejczyk.
