Sijara Eubanks headed back to bantamweight after weight troubles at 125

It’s been no secret that top UFC flyweight contender Sijara Eubanks has had her struggles with the scale since entering the division. That, however, will no longer be a likely issue as ESPN has confirmed that she will be moving back up to her old home of 135-pounds.

The BJJ black belt Eubanks made her MMA debut in Invicta FC as a bantamweight before she quickly decided to try her hand at flyweight. After losing her debut at 125-pounds, Eubanks would return to 135 as well as the win column.

It wasn’t until the UFC announced their 26th season of The Ultimate Fighter that Eubanks would drop back down as it would feature the flyweight division and crown an inaugural champion.

In the house, Eubanks fought and won three fights to secure her spot in the finals opposite Nicco Montano. Struggling to make weight in her final two bouts on the show, the trouble didn’t stop there.

On weigh-in day for the inaugural title fight with Montano, Sijara Eubanks was hospitalized mid weight cut and removed from the bout.

Missing out on her title opportunity, Eubanks would rebound in her official UFC debut by making the 125-pound limit and defeating fellow top-ranked contender Lauren Murphy in the process.

What would come next would be a rollercoaster of events.

Eubanks was set to face Jessica Eye at the big year-end UFC 232 show on December 29. That was until Eubanks was pulled from it to headline opposite Valentina Shevchenko as the new UFC 230 main event for the vacant flyweight title.

The UFC would quickly reconsider their decision and cancel this bout to remake Shevchenko vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 thus leaving Eubanks without an opponent.

Roxanne Modaferri would then step up to make a rematch with Eubanks from TUF 26 possible.

Eubanks would defeat Modaferri for the second time by unanimous decision…but miss weight prior to the bout. Because of this, it prompts the move back up.

How will Sijara Eubanks fair in the UFC bantamweight division?
